Narrative

Marie became the countess of Boulogne in 1159 after the death of both her brothers, Eustace and William.
Around 1156-58 she transferred from Lillechurch Priory to Romsey Abbey to be its abbess. The following year Matthew of Alsace abducted her from her convent and forced her to marry him. They had two daughters, Ida and Matilda.
